help,
I mis-measured while building a tank stand .. dumb !
Now looking for a tank to be made.
Harder than I expected finding someone to help, can anyone direct me to some who can help?
North half of north island (I'm based in Hamilton)

mmm I have lots 'o' plants .. but nothing expensive ... I guess I get the drugs, or kill the plants
-
I'm nearing 97% sure I have a blue/green algae infection.
Where would I find this Erythromycin ?

Recntly I converted my tank to a planted scape which is working perfect.
I emptied the whole thing, and put in about an inch of substrate, bought 5 bulbs, and have just got co2 feed in the last week.
Couple of things bother me.
1. I have an amazon sword that is about 1 foot high, but is still in its "basket" that was in when purchased. Is there a nice way of securing plants to the ground?
2. My tank is nearly 2 foot deep, any clever tips on how to work with plants when I can't reach the bottom of the tank?

ok.. that great news then..
would one be ok with Giant Gourami??
arowanas and gouramis make excellent tank mates.
I had exactly this combo for 3 years. (not all the same fish tho')
I must say, try and feed them seperately. I had my aro and gourami fighting for food, and I ended up with an agressive gourami

i have a copies of it with out the adds in so when it has been aired i can give it to the FNZAS library, I'm meant to be getting copies for everyone that was in the doco.
please !!! I missed it
I've got space, and plenty of bandwidth if you need somewhere to host it

I'm looking to trade down to perhaps a 5 footer factory made thingee
I want to keep my distochodus, and find new home/s for my Gourami, 2 severums, 1 oscar, and 1 pleco.
and put the distochodus in with a black arowana in a five footer

well in a desperate measure I dosed the tank with sodium bicarbonate.
My Arowana settled down heaps. so I guess his death during the night was at least painless
-
well its now sunday night and the PH level is back to acidic
my arowana has started swimming very badly and fear hid death is pending
not sure what to do now
desperate
-
75% water change, cleaned the filter media, dosed with salt.
ph is now 7.5-7.7 ... I'll keep tewsting it for the next two days, and if it stays good I'll wait until next weekend until the next water change.
-
the only thing I haven't cleaned is the filter (which will happen tonight)
The filter is biological, and about 200 litres
not sure what else to check
-
yes I have
its about 8.5 (dark blue)
-
well I think I may have discovered the problem
My PH level is screwy.
its yello (acidic ?? )
I've done 2 50% water changes in 3 days and the PH doesn't seem to be changing :-? .. time to go to the shop and buy artificial PH-a-fier's
any suggestions?
I've got 1000 litres BTW
-
Firstly.
I went away for couple of months, and neglected my fish :-?
Last weekend my arowana stop eating, and on closer inspection I noticed what looks like white fluff covering his/her body and even his/her eyes
kind of a cross between a spider web type thing and cotton wool
I did a large water change on the weekend, about 75% which has stopped the problem from getting any worse. I also dosed the tanl with melafix.
Every other fish seems to be 100% happy, buty my arowana still has a little white fluff/cob web, and hasn't eaten for 5 days
I'm also aware that arowana's are wierdo's, and sometimes just stop eating for the hell of it, but I am concerned.
any help?
TA.
