Oh thought i'd load some pics for clarification. i'm not sure they are actually 'red pine' i was just told they were. my ones are not very red coz i'm lighting is not very strong and i don't do iron ferts :oops: :oops: what is their official name?

Sounds like an odd question, but I've got four discus in my tank at the moment, and its been chaos lately as two of them have paired up (methinks) and started shimmying and chasing the other two around the tank. Seems like i have a great situation, except I'm almost 100% sure all four of my discus are female How do i stop them from showing breeding behaviour, or is the only way to split the two?

well I did start dosing with PMDD about 3 weeks ago, 10 drops in my 210 litre tank approx 2x weekly but i didnt think it would do this! the other plants are growing really well - eg tiger lotus and red pine not sure what to do! i removed some brown leaves but its spreading everywhere!

The java fern in my main tank is starting to go brown, I had 5 really big clumps growing really well and just this week noticed that the leaves are all mushy and disintegrating. Is this normal?

just out of interest I 've got the same problem setting up my aqua one 620 and i want to change the tubes what brand of lights did you get for how much? so 24W, 6700k ones that fit into the original lighthood? wow :bounce: :bounce:

quick question, i bought myself a tiger lotus from HFF albany a couple of months ago and its doing well (i think) its got a couple of new little plantlets but is it normal for it to only have floating leaves? its got a a few young leaves around the base but HEAPS of floating leaves i recently cut them off save about 4-5 coz they were blocking all the light in the tank but they just keep growing wider in diameter is this normal? do i not have enough light?

I went on a plane once from auckland to palmerston north it would've been about a year ago Just had them in a box and they let me carry it on my lap but they did say that it isn't normal for them to let u carry it on...

this might be an odd question but how do u STOP a discus from spawning/spawning behaviours? the discus in my tank have all gone nuts they're fighting all the time and doing the shimmery things its really getting bad they are beating each other up i dunno how to stop them i already separated on this afternoon but then the others left behind just keep going at each other what do i do?!

yeah i tried going to Corey's electrical they said they don't sell ballasts anymore? any other stores there aren't any at like bunnings/mitre 10. can i use another ballast from another light hood or will that completely fry the lights? this isn't something i'm very good at doing :oops: :oops: might need to get hubby to give it a crack

Couple of quick questions - I'm having trouble with the lights on my ar980 The hood has 3 x lights, two longer ones 90cm i think(30W) and one shorter one 60 cm. I can't get the shorter one working, I bought new tubes for it and replaced the little round thing (starter?) but I was told its the ballast that needs replacement but I can't find one anywhere! Where's the best place to get one? Or is it better to just replace the whole light fixture? And i bought some arcadia 30w tubes from LFS bcoz they told me those are the best ones to have but its still not enough light the tank looks so dim.. if anyone has advice that would be great.

Just holding these 3 guys until someone (Not naming any names Alan!!!) gives me back my aquaone tank so they're all squished up into a tiny little jebo tank problem is these two decide to make a go of it and spawned 3 times already so annoying as the eggs never hatch and they're picking on the third wheel funny thing is the female had paired up with the scribble b4 now she's with the other checkerboard? (one i got from ron) what a little slapper :o

Can someone help me out i'm getting a little confused with what's been happenning with my discus. I've got 7 discus in my tank and six of them are perfectly fine eating normally. I've noticed over the last 3-4 weeks one of my blue diamonds is not blue anymore its now black And it hangs around the back of the tank, gotten thinner. once in a while it'll come back out and eat but then retreats into the back of the tank. I'm pretty sure its not getting picked on (its not the smallest by a long shot!), there are not open sores or wounds on the body, no spots, nothing hanging out of its bottom either. Can someone help me? I was reading through the forum and thought it could be hex but the other discus seem perfectly fine. Any ideas? :-?
