  2. oh and by the way i know lots about water quality! If i didnt the current fish i have would be dead. Just because im still a beginner doesnt make me stupid. I test phs in my current tank alot but i didnt know soft and hard i usually think acid to alkaline. anyway, We all learn new stuff everyday on forums like these. Thanks the advice goodbye!
  3. i have an angel fish and i used to keep him with rummy nose tetras, they were fine! I would think that the serpae tetras will be ok too! The only tetra eaten by an angel fish is a neon tetra! Trust me ive had personal experiance with them. But my angel is quite piecful the only fish he chases acachionally are my two mollys. I used to keep them with long tailed guppys. angel never went for them.
  4. Hi you may have read a different post i sent about deciding what fish i wanted to keep! I think a discus sounds rather nice! I have done a little bit of research and found that they need soft water i have searched everything to find what soft water is but nothing came up! so if anyone knows please post! I also found out they need there water filtered through peat. what is peat?

  6. I have kept a red tailed black shark I had a quick look at my fish book and they grow up to 20ins in lenth very quickly I also read in my book that they are one of the only to peacful sharks for a tropical tank! So they dont bully and arnt aggressive. They just grow very big very fast

  9. Its a daft question really but my pleco poos constantly! :lol: I dont mind it to much as i can fish it out every day but i was just wondering if other peoples plecs do the same?
  10. i recomend you do. Mine were quick to find there home in the cave i have, and they are coming out and darting across the tank aswell now. Penguins are settled aswell now they are shooling round the tank together there great to watch!
  11. Hey I have angel fish, loaches, a pleco, penguin fish/ tetras, black widow tetras, platys, mollies and bronze corydoras. I have ordered some plants to go in there with them however I have no idea as to weather they will be ok in there with the fish. If anyone knows please post. I do remember reading that people had trouble with plecos and plants is that true?
  12. I did ask the person selling the fish if they would be ok he said that they would be fine but if they arnt and if they are unhealthy within a week i can take them back.

  14. My tank has been up for about 3-4 months now They seem ok at the moment but will be looking out for any signs of desease they seem rather healthy at the moment though
  15. lol today i have no homework as i didnt go school i had a hospital appointment and because we were there so long there was no point me going to school so we went bluewater and to milbrooks on the way home!
  16. Yes they are mine have just been released into the main tank and are having fun with the pleco at the mo lol
  17. I went to a fish shop today and my dad brought me 3 clown loachs and 5 penguin tetras they are beautiful! I cant wait for them to go into my main tank! Has anyone had any experiances with these fish? If so please let me know if they become agressive etc I know clowns become very big lol I dont know much about penguin tetras though im about to do a search but if anyone has advice please let me know
  18. lol thanks everyone i did a search on google and and i must say there are some super sites out there! i never really like searching but if its going to help me with fish im willing to do it Im going to a marine shop today and im going to do some pricing up and buy a few things lik a thermometer etc

  23. How would you get the specific gravity right in your tank?
