suemack
one of the fish in one 10 g had a wound on her side so put some melafix in - says it is safe for invertebrates, biological filter etc but still halved the dose as there are kuhlis in the tank. About 5 mins later noticed all 4 kuhlis swimming rapidly up and down the sides looking as if they wanted to jump out - grabbed the bucket and started to do some large water changes. after 50% they started to settle down. One of them died o/night the rest are looking OK. I'm a water changeoholic and have been lucky that haven't had to medicate anything for a while now - BUT - thought that the malafix woulg be safe!! Caryl
If I had one fish with damage, I would remove it and treat it separately, rather than dose the whole tank. Cheaper to do it this way too. I don't use meds if I can help it and have not done so for years so can't tell you if kuhlis are particularly susceptible to them. Someone else may have had a similar experience though and be able to comment further.

Goldie
Once when my clown loaches got a touch of ick I used melafix and it killed them. Some loaches have no scales and therefore no protection. Also tetras cannot be medicated with melafix or anything containing methane green it seems. suemack
Goldie - hi - can you put salt into the tank where the kuhlis are - I haven't as had heard that they were v. sensitive to it? Have used that in other tanks when the guppies have had wounds.
Goldie
sorry suemack, I have had no experience with kuhlis. Salt is what I used for my clowns when necessary.
