Pawz
Was sold to a friend of a friend as a Bristlenose but because she had never seen a BN before she just accepted it. Its now about 15cm. And this one too. Think is might be a goldspot
Krissie
The top one just looks like a common plec to me, but hey, i'm no expert. The bottom one could be a red\gold spot pleco but mine is slightly more obviously a red spot, so hard for me to say. As i said, i'm no expert. Hope it helps. Tracey
I'd guess both are P. gibbiceps. The patterning can vary quite a lot between different fish. I hope your friend has a big tank, these guys will get to 18 inches plus......
Pawz
these two live in a four foot tank, with 7 small bristlenose too. Thanks for the help guys i'll pass on the info. Pawz
Kim&Dan
I don't think the first one is a common one - I thought the common ones are always greyish blackish - I can definitely see some red / brown there... Not an expert here though
HummingBird
The first one definitely is a common pleco if I've ever seen one. I've had three ones at different stages, here're some pics of two of them for you to compare: As you can see, there're some similarities. venustus
I hope you don't mind, but I posted in another forum and asked Barbie. This lady knows more about catfish/plecos than anyone I've ever come across She may answer here, if not I'll let you know what she says.http://www.fishaholics.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=17564#17564
PETEYPLECO
Yep GOLDSPOT pleco, got a 6" one myself, great critters till they get BIG. I'll have to get rid of him soon if anybodies interested?
venustus
From BarbieHiya, the first one is probably L. pardalis, a common pl*co. There are many species commonly sold that can be intermixed. Hopefully it will be the L. pardalis, as it doesn't get quite as big as some of the others. The second one is L001, Glyptoperichthys joselimaianus. They too don't grow quite as large as some of the other commons, staying under a foot, total length. Hope that helps! Barbie
Kim&Dan
The first one definitely is a common pleco if I've ever seen one. Maybe we're just talking about two different things  I mean common as in: http://www.thetropicaltank.co.uk/Fishindx/compleco.htm These ones usually don't have much brown or red in their colouring. Maybe you mean 'common' as in not rare? Redspot & Goldspot are not rare... dunno, I might be completely wrong though. As I said not an expert on catfish Yours, Hummingbird, looks like a Redspot to me?!?
