crook anemone

Recommended Posts

my LTA seems to be a bit crook at the mo, is shrinking a fair bit, and losing colour, then coming back to full size randomly over the day. it is usually about 30-35cm across fully extended, but when it shrinks it is down to about 10cm across. any ideas? rest of tank seems fine, although i am suspicious that some of the other corals are a bit whiter than usual....

at what point should i remove it from the tank? i can set up qt tank if necessary.

Steve didn't your anemone look a bit crook before it split?

Probably not the whole answer, but it doesn't appear to be getting much flow. ( Just going by the way the pics look ).

Also do you feed it? Often they don't get fed at all, but a feed can do wonders for an ailing one. If it has not been fed, start small so he won't barf it up again. Do this when it's expanded obviously.

If it comes back to normal during the day I wouldn't shift it yet try giving it more flow.

If they are not happy where they are they will move themselves

Anemones do dump all their water from time to time but it shouldn't be doing it every day and should come completly back to good health.

If it has bleached on you something is wrong and you will have to watch it doesn't start feeding off itself.

Try and feed it but if it doesn't want it don't keep putting it back try again the next day small pieces while it's not well.

You will soon know when you have to get it out keep a close eye or you will be in trouble.

I'm off on holiday tomorrow so good luck.
