Fiona M
Hi Everyone, I'm new to this forum ... a friend put me on to you because I'm looking for a very large, tropical aquarium, filled with shoals of brightly coloured fish, to shoot for a video project. I want to set 3 video cameras in front of it and shoot them all simultaneously for 30 minutes. The final footage will end up as part of a video projection event in the Auckland Arts Festival. I'm afraid I can't offer any money but can give you a screen credit. The aquarium needs to be in the greater Auckland area for me to get to it. Your help with this would be greatly appreciated ... sorry, not even sure how many fish you can get in a tank, even temporarily, so my request will need guidance Cheers, Fiona
Caryl
Hi Fiona, good luck with the project. I am sorry I can't help as I am nowhere near Auckland (and don't have a large aquarium teeming with fish). Try looking at our main page under "Clubs" and contact some club members in the Auckland area. Kim Dunnett at Pupuke Aquarium may be able to help you. Pegasus
Hi Fiona, Fantastic project you have there, and I'm sure 'someone' will be keen to have their fish filmed. Would be nice if you could get some footage of fish 'actually' spawning, as well as a general overview. Some fish give birth to live young... others lay eggs on plants or on rocks or in caves, while others collect the eggs and incubate them in their mouths (mouthbrooders), then spit all the babies out once they are hatched, while others build nests on the surface which they guard with ferocity... so there is much more scope, if you can find the right setup, at the right time Great to see you here, and the best of luck with your project. You might want to check out one of the bigger fish shops to see if they have good display tanks or know of any of their customers who may be able to help (perhaps 'afterhours'). A fish shop might be very keen to help, for a bit of 'free' advertising... Andrew, in Palmerston North, where there is one shop that would probably be able to help... Fiona M
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome and great advice. I'm following up on all the suggestions and will let you know how I get on ... I'm sure I'm going to find just what I need. Cheers, Fiona
dave
fiona , Give dave from hollywood fishfarm a call (09) 6205249 . They have a couple of dislay tanks set up in the shop all of which are very colorful and healthy . I am sure he wouldn't mind if you filmed them as this is also a chance to promote the hobby of fishkeeping . Good luck with your project
