  • 2 weeks later...

Well we feel a bit boring after reading all of those...

We are building our hobby with one species at a time...

We have 5 common bristlenoses...

But several breeding set ups of GBA's that are proving very prolific lol

We're actually looking for a new project now that we have that one sorted...

We quite like both the golden heterdon and the snowball pleco...but am having trouble finding information on breeding these in captivity...can anyone shed any light???

Look forward to your replies...

Cheers,

Nat and Matt.

hay ya natalie do u mind changing ur profile so we know where abouts in NZ ur in?

both of those Pleco have been bred in captivity before but would be hard to find breeding pair just from LFS. when u say snowball do u mean the L102? here is a link on breeding them

http://www.planetcatfish.com/shanesworl ... cle_id=266

but keep in mind that most of the snowball/snowflake plecos in NZ are actually Lda33 which has to my knowledge not been breed in captivity as they grow huge and takes along time to grow, in similar situation as the royal and gold nugget. :D

  • 4 months later...

Well, 6 months down the line and I remembered this while checking in on my recent L182 spawn. Not much has happened with my collection aside from cutting the fat and getting rid of most of the non-breedable ones, including all the Synos. In a few weeks I'll be breaking down the big display tank for an upgrade and to move some of the fish to my new fish room. Will be interesting to see how the plecs in there have come along.
