djay
Hi could someone give me an idea how to get rid of them have been squashing them but that doesn't get rid of there larvae or eggs or whatever youcall it. I did buy some snail rid but thats no good as can't use in soft water. I thought I read somewhere that there is some sort of fish that you can get to get rid of them. Any ideas would be grateful as they are starting to tick me off. Thanks Again Dianne
Tsarmina
Loaches are the best fish for eating snails.

evilknieval69
they will eat all the snails in the tank and then if more hatch from any eggs then they will eat them aswell. HTH

Kim&Dan
Hi djay! Yes, Tsarmina and evilknieval69 are spot on. Some loaches are better than others for exterminating snails though - I personally found Yoyo Loaches (aka Pakistani Loaches) to be the most effective snail killers HTH, Dan
Faran
Bristlenoses do a great job of eating eggs, in my experience. My yo yo loaches only did a decent job on snails. Clowns are the best IMO.
djay
Thanks for that, I have got bristlenoses and corys. so it sounds like a couple of Loaches are the answer. I dont evan know what they look like. Dianne
Damiana
Another thing you can do is take a slice of zuccinni or cucumber, thread some twine through it (nothing funny colored! You don't want dye leaching out!) and dangle it in the tank overnight. First thing in the morning pull it out along with dozens of snails. Rinse and repeat.
