Oscar Sheila
For those of you who know about my tank stand dilemma, here are some photos of the actual tank stand. They should make the plans a bit easier to get your head around. This is the underneath of the tank stand. This is the 2 right hand cupboards. (right way up) This is the 2 left hand cupboards (again, right way up)

Oscar Sheila
I certainly hope so, it will have to hold upwards of 800kg.

Dark
Sure looks a lot nicer than my new one! I'd take wood over angle iron anyday, even if i am able to balance a 40ton truck on it.

john1
Hi According to the pics, it should withstand a couple of tons. Cannot beat a solid wooden stand. Also doors, shelves etc. are easier added. The outside painted to suit the room and bingo, a beautiful piece of furniture. John
Oscar Sheila
solid wood Is MDF solid wood?
Oscar Sheila
By the way update pics are in this thread.
john1
Hi Yes, any vertical piece of MDF can be called solid wood. Incredible strong. But make absolutely sure the ends are also sealed. Water is a killer on MDF. Swells to twice the size if unsealed. Otherwise it is ok to use. Oscar Sheila
It is sealed in every conceiveable place. Only bit that isn't is underneath the stand. The tray is coated with 3 layers of polyurethane, and siliconed in the joins. The whole thing is undercoated and painted with 2 coats of paint. If it swells....I'll eat dog crap!
