bikiegirl Posted June 20, 2003 Report Share Posted June 20, 2003 hi ive got a peppercatfish that look like it sick it keep sitting at the top the water and when i go to look at it it go to the bottom but it like it can not stay there it floats back to the top again ive been watch it now for 2 days and i all so see it shoot to the top and get air and shoots back down again is it normal for it to do this hope u can help ty Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Any fouled food it may have come across could do this If not it may have "wind", Rainbowfish get this after eating too much to quickly, maybe catfish are the same & hopefully it may pass Either way it may pay to quarantine it, just to be safe! Pegasus Posted June 20, 2003 Report Share Posted June 20, 2003 Hi Bikegirl, As mentioned, your fish could be bloated. It's normal for most catfish to do hasty rushes to the surface. If possible separate the fish and feed on live food (white worm, bloodworm or something) Finely chopped garden worm might work. (not manure worms) just the plain thin red ones. peety Posted June 22, 2003 Report Share Posted June 22, 2003 mine make runs to the surface a lot too, no probs. How much air do you pump into your tank.
