TM
I got bored so i decided to make myself a skimmer. Total height is 750mm Main chamber is 250mm acrylic tubing. All the parts were either laser cut or routed on my bench. I am using a sedra 9000 pump i got some time back. Pictures are 12hours after turing the skimmer on. Still a bit of fine tuning to be done. Bad photos, was quite dark when i took them. I will be putting more photos up in the DIY forum when i get a chance.

puttputt
One thing that i can't agree with you Steve  . Deltecs are worth every cent, and I doubt anyone could convince me otherwise. The little APF600 skims like a dream and has from the moment I plugged it in. I'm sure the 902 that is on the list will run just as well. Shawn. Pies
And its just my opnion. DelTec make VERY EXPENSIVE skimmers, are they worth it? You obviously think so, I don't. Still though comments like yours must be good for the DelTec importers in the forum. Another few sales for JetSkiSteve, good work Puttputt you should be in marketing. By the way, I am using Aquamedic calcium reactor media at the moment, its its the VERY BEST money can buy. Worth every cent, and I doubt anything anyone could say would change my mind. Its worked like a dream since I first added it. Pies (JetSkiSteve, i'll take my commision in cash please)

reef
I thought Alois was the Deltec agent Sure am, but any cowboy can try to get a few from a third party. DelTec make VERY EXPENSIVE skimmers, Pricing is pretty much similar to any other brand with the same quality. h&s, Bubble king, grotech. These are not skimmers that are produced by the 1000s and are generally hand made so labour cost is far more. Also best to compare apples with apples when comparing skimmers as most manufactures over rate them. Nice skimmer TM, cost $450, Can you please make 100 and sell them for $450 and live of the proceeds so you can feed your family. , basically once you add your profit and R&D it will cost over $1000. So in reality it is not cheap either. Fish hobbyist think that aquarium stores/manufactures should work for free. but people in the other business are allowed to earn over $30 a hour. At the end of the day things cost what they cost for a reason. If shops could do things cheaper they would but the reality is they cant as they want to be around in 5,10 years, unlike all the fly by nighters who come and go, and there seems to be many going. Equanature for example is not doing so hot, i wonder why.

Pies
You obviously havn't watched the Enron documentry, yes there are reasons why some things cost so much, its call profit. I mean no disrespect to the DelTec, hell i've owned 2 and use one now. Mine has worked flawlessly and I am not unhappy with it. I brought it 2nd hand and was happy with the price, but if I knew then what I know now I suspect my Skimmer money would have gone to something else (cheaper). I can't imagine EVERY changing my skimmer, or upgrading it so its kinda moot for me. Piemania
