tropicco
Hi all, I have 6 Copadichromis borleyi, all about a year old. They are all the same colour, grey with yellow fins so i dont no if i have males or females or both. Today my biggest one decided to spawn. I watched her lay the eggs and scoop them up in her mouth. Man i was hoping she was a guy. All the others were trying to get at the eggs but none were doing the circling thing or looking as if they were trying the firtilize the eggs. My question is does this mean I have a male in there or was the female spawning by herself and just producing infertile eggs. thanks
Caryl
As far as I know females will lay eggs whether there is a male in there or not. I just cleaned out my Malawi tank today (totally removed everything) and found 2 different sized spawnings of electric yellows but no Borleyi's. I suspect mine are all the same sex.
