Brianemone
Since adding more flow to my tank i've noticed that some of the LPS corals (blastomussa' and fungids) are haveing a rough time, at the moment there is a spot in the bottom left hand side of the tank that doesnt have as much flow as the rest of the tank but this will change eventually when i upgrade on of the 6000's to a 6100 and get another 6100 as well. question is do i even attempt to find a calm spot for the blasto (the most current and light sensitive coral i have) or do i crank up the flow and only have corals etc that can handle the pace??? jetskisteve
Thats why I only have one LPS and its at the bottom left. Just change your drivers
Brianemone
yeah om going to change the driver on one of them but i think ill end up with four streams in the tank to give better coverage. with two i still have a lot of dead spots and its not chaotic enough with four i can do alot more on the multicontroller as well
JoeBlog
I have A LOT of flow in my tank (4 x 6100’s, AM3000 CL, two Laguna 7’s as return, and looking to get a couple 6080’s), but am still able to keep a few LPS, e.g. Blasto, meaty brains, etc... It just takes a bit of creativity with the rock work. I put together specific nooks and crannies to give them the shelter they need from the flow as well as the light. It can be a bit of a PITA, but I think totally worth it to have a few of these beauties mixed in with all the SPS.
jetskisteve
Yes Brian it must depend on your set up & how u set the controller cause I can show you a 6 ft tank close to my house that has 2x6100 & superb wave action/pulsing
puttputt
come on Jetski, I'm not that close to your house....
Brianemone
yeah i think i could do a little more if the tank was longer (have the streams going down the length of the tank) at the moment i have to bounce them off the glass and stuff. i really want lots of flow on the bottom to avoid detritus build up, and fungid arent really that happy on rocks. the blasto i think i could create a little cavern for
puttputt
After getting the streams, the Seios became an ideal and cheap to hide behind a rock and blast under both piles of rock to stir up the much under the rock. I was surprised at what came out. Brian, I now run the 2 6100s on a controller, a std 6080 in the middle of the tank and 2 sieos under the rocks blowing down as well as the split return and 2 std power heads in the rockwork. It's like a washing machine now.
Ira
I'm finding I have the same problem and all I have is two M820s and my return pump! I have both Seios aimed at a rock in the middle of the tank next to my anemone and everything else scattered in sheltered spots.
