livebearer_breeder
Another question, unrelated though are these skimmers any good? Cheers Shae
suphew
lokks like a queen turbo, I had a play with one (didn't I give it to you??) but couldn't get it to work, maybe with a bigger pump it would have been ok? I think there are a couple of people here that use them?
livebearer_breeder
Yes you did give it to me Its ratted for a 360-400gph pump, so i reckon an Atman PH3500 would run it? Im just wondering how effective it is? Cheers Shae
chimera
Another question, unrelated though are these skimmers any good? yes its a queen and it is CRAP. even with large pump. i got one cheap which i played around with. dont even waste 10 seconds of your time with it. livebearer_breeder
Is that the only opinion of this skimmer? Shae
wasp
If money is an issue & you already have the skimmer, I once made the same one work reasonably by having it on a 400GPH pump, plus having a wooden airstone in it. Still not as good as a Deltec or something, but better than useless certainly.
chimera
Is that the only opinion of this skimmer? i think you will find this is the case. i got one off trademe, only cost me $30 so thought i'd see how it went. its a queen turbo ts2000. waste of time. i put it on the refugium and also ran a deltec in the sump. i emptied the deltec about a dozen times to this things once and the deltec holds 10 times more skimmate than the queen. dont get me wrong it does skim, but you'd get more skimmate turning an old mans underpants inside out and shaking the sh$t out of it. Ira
My deltec's skimmate smells like it came out of an old man's underpants... ewww...

ghostface
i had three of these, which i modified into 1 - by taking the bottom off two of them and stacking them, with pumps into the top two inlets, and the lowest one blocked. it was still s**t, but better than nothing i guess. if you are going to use it, get the gruntiest pump you can for it. i was using a via aqua 2600 and a 4900 on my modified one, and it [wet] skimmed a little bit.
