Snowman
It's usually under the piece of driftwood, when my female lays i take out the helicopter with the eggs and male in it and put it in a seperate tank for a couple of weeks, when i put the helicopter and male back within a day or two there are eggs, got about 200 fry at the moment with the male sitting on another large clutch of eggs but not sure where the new fry will go, do you want some? Luke*
This doesn't make sense to me... helicopter?? So you take him out with eggs, then put him back and there's 200 eggs...so there's eggs the whole time??
Snowman
The helicopter is a tank ornament that the male lives in, the first time she laid eggs i took the helicopter complete with the male and eggs out and put him in a breeding tank, left him there for 2 weeks then put him and helicopter back in the community tank he was originally in, 1 day after putting him back in the community tank there were more eggs so moved helicopter and him back to the breeding tank with the original fry, after 2 weeks i put him back in the community tank and 2 days later there are more eggs. There are around 200 FRY (not eggs) from 2 different spawns not counting the new lot of eggs.

Luke*
Ahh I see...I assumed the eggs took longer than that to hatch
Snowman
LOL Wok, thats why around 200, or between 100 and 300 anyway LOL The male will fan the eggs for about 5 days and then they hatch, he tries to keep them in his hidey hole for 5-7 days i've found depending on what else is in the tank. Occasionally 1 may escape him and they look funny, an egg with a tail trying to swim (usually unsucessfully).

dee_jay_01
what our bristlenose catfish breed in is a small clay pot about 7-10cms in length, 8cm width, and an opening of about 2-4cms. they love it as the can protect and fan the eggs, turn around inside and stop anyone else from going in by sitting in the entrance. I will try to post a picture of on in the next day or so. Currenty we have a batch of eggs in with the male and about 100+ fry in the tank ranging from about 2-4cms in length.
