yip it drains into an autowaste collector, cylinder with a pingpong ball that floats up to shutoff collection and backs it up to the collection chamber (so that the waste collector is used more than the collection cup its self allowing for more waste to be collected and a better designed riser tube as well

the skimmer pulled out about 1 litre of watery skimmate last night, alot wetter that u would like but thats all part of the dailing in proccess.

I've never seen the problem with wet skimmate. At least you know your getting max crud out.

We do water changes so there's nothing wrong with taking a little water out in the skimmate.

Just my humble opinion :D

well three updates tonight.

after emptying out another two litres of cloudy water from the waste collector, which by the way is the greatest invention ever (i'll elaborate on the skimmer thread) i tweaked it this morning and instantly i had a massive head of foam form, not just lots of bubbles but real foam. :bounce:

second: i did some tests

Nitrate: 0

Calcium: 400

kH: 8 (bit low but acceptable)

third thing is a little weird, i took some xenia out to rossco's house (probaly about 70% of the total xenia in the tank)

as soon as i took it out i noticed some of the white xenia wilted abit, by the end of the day it had almost shrunk into non existance and then by the end of the next day it had gone. :-? :o

Its scary some of the times you guys write posts....

Just as well you have reef tanks to keep you off the streets!

Hey Jimmy, look after the white Xenia, it could be the last left in the Waikato at this rate. We will all be coming around to get some frags off you!

Mines still on the rocks but still quite 'wilted' - the brown looks a lot perkier.

:-?
