Brianemone
maybe thats why all your corals are brown steve if i were close enough to the beach i would use it with out hesitation, the fact that there are risks is obvious but imo they are far out weighed by the benefits

chimera
Life is really funny, This is my post about a year ago and some people shot me down for saying that NSW can cause problems and accusing me of saying it to sell salt, Looks like the luck it running out for some. cant wait to get on the coral/fish pricing debate again, Looks like the Chickens have come home to roost no truth to this whatsoever, scare-mongering to say the least. i see no justification above as to nsw being any worse than asw. there are just as many risks using ASW. RODI can't filter everything out of tap water and salt mix doesnt always contain the right trace levels of required minerals either. im sticking to NSW. lduncan
maybe i'll dry up the ocean and sell the salt cheaper Like Red Sea Salt? ASW has potential problems. They are chemistry related, and sometimes predictable from analysis of different brands. Salt within brands is generally quite consistent. NSW has other potential problems related to pathogens and toxic algae blooms. Which can change daily. I prefer the convenience and consistency of ASW. The argument for NSW provided needed plankton is pretty weak to me. Beyond the obvious L. Just checking, sometimes people overlook the obvious.
