Snowman
Just lost a few fish from a JBL reactor bottle falling over, black ghost knife, angel, 2 striata loaches and an angelicious loach, amazingly 1 very large and 2 medium clown loaches, an angel, female b/nose, 2 queen loaches, 2 yo-yo loaches and an angelicious loach have survived, a lot of time spent cleaning the filter and getting rid of the gunk in the tank that could have been avoided by tying up the flask. Snowman
No, it tipped over and half the flask of yeast etc went up the air line and into the tank, i put it about 12" lower than the diffuser thinking if it did tip it wont go uphill but apparently it can
suphew
Sorry about the bad news, but yet another good reason not to use yeast CO2 reactors. Go and get yourself a soda stream bottle (free or very cheap) , the tread is the same as a proper CO2 cyclinder so you can use a standard regulator ($100-$150), needle valve ($25). I'm guessing you lost that much in fish??
Faran
I'm trying to do the SodaStream CO2 to regulator thing and it just don't seem to jive. Gonna go have my reg looked at. PMed ya about it, suphew.
suphew
have PM'ed you, but for the sake of the others there is a little thingie that screws into the reg to push the release button on the sodastream bottle. When fitting the reg BOC etc will often remove these if you dont need them. When I got mine the guy removed it but gave it to me incase I needed it later. They should be cheap and easy enough to get. Just one thing to remember with sodastream bottles and regs, because there isn't a tap to turn off the bottle you cant remove it until it is empty. It you do there is a high pressure release of gas, and it will at least scare the bejesus out of you, at worst.....
Grizzly
what you need inline with a yeast CO2 thing is a small bottle with two hoses in the lid. one hose goes to the tank and the other to the reactor. this is incase of the reactor tipping over, so the liquid stays in the bottom of the bottle and only gas makes it into the tank. im sure it has a special name
Snowman
I've seen the safety bottle used on DIY CO2, i don't need one on the Nutrafin setup as it hangs off the side of the tank so couldn't fall over, didn't even think about it with the JBL setup but as they say "You learn something new every day" Hopefully this post will stop the same thing happening to anyone else.
