reef
X10s can be found for about $32.00ea Proof is in the pudding. Where?? yawn, yawn Having used x10 for many years I have found that they are not very reliable, had to get 6 replacements over a 12 month period. That is maybe why Neptune also offers a hard wire option. The IKS would be able to do the same thing, but almost 5x the cost Sure you got your facts correct. ??show me how you worked that out?? puttputt
Thanks Pies, you tend to make sense to me. Reef, thats for your experience, I'll mull on it, but I would like a controller, am not interested in the IKS, so whats left. JetskilessSteve, you know how I feel, but at least so far we have keep zeovit out of the thread
reef
least so far we have keep zeovit out of the thread What is Zeovit?? can you drink it. so whats left. There are a few around but all comes down to cost. The Neptune controller is ok if you dont want advance settings and additional probes. i would keep a few spare x10s. especially at the standard price of $32 quoted by pies. Pies
The Neptune controller is ok if you dont want advance settings and additional probes. The Neptune III supports multiple probes and configurations of probes. As for advanced settings, I would say it would be fair to say the Aquacontroller can do 90%+ of what the IKS can do, without the cost of all those ad-in models and extreme prices. Its an outstanding unit. Check the prices from SeaMe, he will do a great deal and freight for free to NZ. If you have X-10 paranoia, go hard wired, or use a combo of both. reef
Pies wrote The IKS would be able to do the same thing, but almost 5x the cost and then the added headache and mess of hardwired power. Here is a quick price calculation I did based on internet sites. Still trying to figure how you get your calculation that the IKS is 5 x the cost of a aqua controller? Another throw away line . Based on US Dollars IKS Control unit $422 Ph probe $246 Redox $275 4 way socket $167 total usd$1110 Aquacontroller Control unit $346 Ph probe $170 Redox $195 6 way socket $252 total usd $963 Neptune AC 3 Control unit $439 Ph probe $59 Redox $74 4 way socket $124 interface $29 total usd $725 A cheaper option would be the AC2 or AC Jr The first two controllers include freight The x10 controls can be found for AUS$34 on special. used to be over $80 a few years ago Pies wrote The Neptune III supports multiple probes Only Ph Hope this clarifies some of the misinformation
puttputt
The AC 2 is what I was looking at with ph and temp probes. Thanks Pies, I'll check that site and le you know the final price. I thought of hardwired but don't they make them 240v?. Have you looked at this. I think I'd like to try the x-10. Thanks for everyones input, I'll let you know how I get on. Shawn
