Metal ornaments in the tank

Picnic

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I recently bought some figurines from indonesia, ganesha and budda that sort of thing. I think they're made out of bronze - silver plated. As I placed them in the tank I wondered if they might taint the water and disturb the fish??????

Anyone know about metals and water and fish?

Bronze is the traditional name for a broad range of alloys of copper. It is usually copper with tin as the main additive.

During the Bronze Age, arsenic was often included in the bronze (mostly as an impurity), which made the alloy even harder.

With that kind of mix I wouldn't use it.

But the article did go on to say that it has very good corrosion resistance in a marine situation.

Try it in a small tank with sacrificial fish.
