Alan
Sounds like the rotor's spindle may be broken. You've checked for kinks, but have you checked the full length, plus the inlet and outlet of the pump, for blockages, ie, a stone?? Jammos
thanks for that. i might open it back up tommorrow and have a look. maybe a bit of media has slipped through the bottom? i didn't think of the stone thing so i will opening it up. toughchicken
This may sound silly, but are the INLET & OUTLET tubes the correct way around when they connect into the external filter. :-? Just a thought. But what Alan has said sounds more likely.
Jammos
yep they are because when i was putting it together i thought that would happen so i put the opposite connectors onto the pipes so there is only one way to connect it i was brainy that day
Snowman
Have you cleaned out the inside of the hose with a hose cleaner, also give the inlet and outlet tubes a good clean with the hose cleaner. I have found with my external Eheim's a drop in pressure is usually a gunked up hose.
Jammos
thanks for that but i have checked everthing! i might just take it back to the shop
Snowman
Have you bled the air out properly, the easiest way to prime the filter is to fit it empty and have the filter lower than the tank then suck on the outlet hose (top of filter) to fill it up via syphon, try giving the filter a shake and see if any air bubbles come out of the outlet or if it stops pumping water, if bubbles come out or if it stops pumping then it is an air lock causing the lack of pressure. I have never heard of problems with the classic which is why i use them, ultra reliable.
