Caper
Hi Calico Sorry, can't help don't know much about angelfish...but many here do! You should introduce yourself in the welcome section. What are "DAF'S" & "cavies"?????
Pegasus
Hi Calico.. Welcome to the NZ Fishroom. See you are from Italy.. and yes.. it would be nice if you introduced yourself in the Welcome section. Best way to purchase Angels is to buy half a dozen juveniles and grow them on.. then the chances are you could get one or two breeding pairs from them. They grow pretty quick.. and will be of breeding size before you know it The juveniles would settle in better than fully grown ones.. and your Platties should be fine with them if they are introduced together. A school of Cardinal Tetras would also look nice in there, and again... the juvenile Angels would pretty much leave them alone. They "do" become territorial after a while, as once they have sorted the "pecking order" out.. there always seems to be a dominant one. Dafs...? Only Daf I know of is a car... Look forward to your posts. Bill.
Apisto
Angelfish need 50 liters per fish (grown) so your tank is a bit small. When they have eggs they tend to be a bit agressive.
jude
Welcome to the forum. I have 5 angelfish in a large tank. I've had them since they were babies and they haven't been any problem at all. They seem to be a little aggressive with each other now but I think they are just sorting out who is top fish. calico
thank you Mod and thank you all guys! The fact is I'm hearing all sorts of stories about this beautiful fish. just yesterday someone told me that one of his angels suddenly went crazy and ate three smaller fish it had been sharing its tank with for quite a long time! does that mean the "angel" became territorial because it matured sexually? Apisto
i have found that if you keep fish that wont fit in there mouths thay leave them alone Well you've found the secret. It can take a long time, but if the other fish do fit it will eventually happen. :-?

Snowman
I have a 160ltr with 2 in it and would like a bigger tank, they need quite a tall tank and plenty of plants to hide in.

Bluetom
Set up a tank 24 in by 12 in by 15 in deep, with a mature sponge filter, and set the temperature to 82 degrees Fahrenheit. The water should be slightly soft preferably under 6GH, with a pH between 6 and 6.5. found this at http://groups.msn.com/Breedingtropicalfish/angelfish.msnw I think you could have 2. I have read somewhere esle that 20g is required for a breeding pair. I have 7 in 200L and the lap it up so you could try a couple.
mickey-tropical-fish-mad
Hi i had two angel fish together they are generally very nice fish and relitivly peacful however they do ocationally chase other fish! I wouldnt keep them with neons as they will eat them. I would also recommend you get more than one!
casey05
yeah apparently neons are a delicacy for angels or so i am told
alanmin4304
I used to breed thousands of angels and I had 8-10 pairs, each in a 12 gallon (24" x 12") tank and they did fine, but you wouldn't want to put anything else in there. They will bully anything when breeding, it doesn't have to fit in their mouth. That is normal cichlid behaviour. they want to protect their eggs. casey05
thats a good reason then as to why they would see other fish as a threat
