Bilbo
Please dont beatup on me for this question. What is the most common reason for having a sump? Hidding the ugly equipment? Creating a larger volume of water? As a filter? Would a built in 'sump' (I know its not really a sump but hopefully you know what I mean) work? Was thinking of a 600mm cube tank with the back 100 - 150mm partitioned off with tinted glass or perspex to hide heaters, pumps and filteration equipment. Sure! in fact its fairly common for smaller tanks, using a back tank divider or a 'hang on'. Sorry I wasn't home the other day when you were out, make sure you come over again, have another look and ask away. Pie
Drifty
have seen a lot of tanks in the states with a partition in the back to hide all your stuff
Brianemone
the JBL nanocubes (boyu in NZ i think) have a back partition for the heater and other stuff. the secret of the sump is good design to create easy access and facilitate maintanence.
