HelifaxNZ
Hi, I'm wondering whether anyone has used a ViaAqua Multi-Skimmer, either with a UV light or without. I don't know whether it would be more convenient and easier to use than to have separate components. It does "look" impressive. Any comments would be appreciated. Cheers Helifaxnz
Brianemone
my brother used one, i wouldnt reccomend them for a few reasons noise, because its a venturi its a little loud, but also the motor's are a litle noisy price, for a little bit more you can get a far superoir skimmer ask steve about his biostar. Tom Gunner
I had a friend who had one in Canada - and I concur with what Brianemone said - the noise can get chronic, especially with age. Saying that, I can remember reading a few fixes for this problem on RC.
HelifaxNZ
Thanks for your comments guys... So if I purchased a Venturi skimmer, would that be just as noisy as the ViaAqua, or is it isolated to just the ViaAqua system?
Brianemone
almost all skimmers will make a little noise, some are quiter than others, the quitest ive seen in operation are the deltec turbo skimmers. the noise that frusted me the most wiht the viaaquas was the motor its self
reef
o if I purchased a Venturi skimmer, would that be just as noisy as the ViaAqua, or is it isolated to just the ViaAqua system? As mentioned all make a bit of noise. you could get a airstone skimmer as they are quite, if you got a small tank they would work well and will skim better than any cheap skimmer on the market. Airstone skimmers do have the smallest bubbles possable, but you have to change the airstone every month.
petplanet
you could get a airstone skimmer as they are quite But air pumps are not quiet. They can make a lot more noise than a water pump. We do the multi skimmer for $129.95. You can not get the UV version in NZ via a store. I think Deepblue imports them. If it is a small tank they give you a spot to hide your heater out of the tank.
