warick hearn
Can someone please tell me what the proper preparation of zucchine is before feeding it to my kole tang? I read that you blanch it then freeze it (before) feeding it to the fish...is that correct??? Thanx Warick.
Pies
Never tried. I have a Blue Eye Tang (same as kole but different colour), mine eats Nori (red and green) and Spirilina Flake no problem. However most of the time he is happy just hovering the rocks of algae. Good luck with it, how about some pics? Pieman

warick hearn
Thats what ive read that kole tangs will eat...after doing some research before buying the tang. That and nori as a variation to their diet.
Pies
I personally don't feed anything terestrial to my fish, because it doesn't seem natural. Fenner says that vitium C is Vitum C, does't matter if its from an orange or from an ocean plant. FYI. Lots of different algaes from the ocean that the kole will love. Remember its a Tang, so its a grazer. That means its stomach is designed to eat lots of low nutrition food all day (2% in Nori for example), not just one or 2 feeds per day. Great fish, good luck with whatever you decide to feed it. Pie
wasp
In general greenery of marine origin will contain less Po4 than terrestrial vegetables, so will be more suitable from that viewpoint. As an example boiled broccoli was a recommended tang food some years back. Then it was found to often contain a very high % phosphate, and is now rarely used. raeh1
My tangs fussy (yellow tang) Heaps of algae to eat, but attacks the glass if I don't put seaweed out for him by early evening. Hes even turned his noise (so to speak) up at some cheap spiralina. So their all different.
Ira
My yellow tang girl doesn't seem particularly fussy. I say it's a she because it nibbles at my red macroalgae and gets red lips that looks like lipstick.
