macca
hey, i have been trying to get some pics of various corals growing (sort of budding off of my live rock) and my fish in my saltie tank... and yet i am having major issues with focus... unfortunatley the camera i ave acess to has no manual focus, and no matter what i have tried it fails to focus on anything at a zoom decent enough to show any detail of the objects/organisms... any suggestions? other than get a new camera? cheers, Macca
Ira
Try macro mode and holding the button halfway to lock the focus then move it back and forth until it looks like it's focused on the right spot?
toughchicken
How far away from the tank are you standing? Every camera has a minimum distance that it has to be away from the object that you are focusing on, even with macro mode cameras. Try taking a step back from your tank and then zoom it in on the item, this will allow the focus to work in its designed proximity range, like most point and shoot cameras. RJ example - my semi professional camera in macro mode, requires a minimum distance of 200-300mm from the item I wish to photograph.
Faran
I'm not sure what camera you have or what you're trying to shoot, but my advice is to turn all lights in the room off, all lights in the tank on then hold the camera in macro or regular mode (depending on what happens with the focus) right against the glass and try it that way. Another trick if you're hacing trouble with focus is to "spotlight" the desired object with a flashlight from above. White LED torches seem to do the treat.... Good luck! Looking forward to seeing your fishy/reefy photos
