Perfect explanation LBB

Best place to place a power head is at one of the ends towards the back, thats where I have found mine most usefull as it circulates the water more efficiently. I recommend them as they help provide oxygen to the water. I have the 1000LPH and the 500LPH in my 4ft tank.

Here is some pictures of our Powerhead Filters.

This one is a Minature Powerhead filter that circulates 200LPH

This one is a Pro Aqua Multi-function Internal Power Filter that circulates 1000LPH

This is an Aqua One, circulating 500LPH

Hi Oscar, An external filter is made up of tow main bits. A pump, and filter media.

A pump is a powerhead, and is used one way or other in (virtually) every type of filter system. In my opinion, for freshwater use, its always beneficial to have some sort of filter pad between the tank and the pump.....and power filters cost basically the same as powerheads.

Not counting air-powered systems of course!
