chimera
My Mg levels are quite high. They have hung around 1100 for ages so i added two 1/2 cups of magnesium to the tank (about 3 days apart) now i realise sea water is 1300 - 1500, but when i tested tonight (about a week after i added the 2nd 1/2 cup) it came in at > 1500 (not sure exactly, test kit doesn't go higher than 1500) other than a large increase in coralline algae growth (calcium is 450), are there any adverse effects with having high Mg? Ira
I didn't think an increase in coraline growth was an adverse side effect.

cracker
If you used the salifert kit you can keep adding reagent from a second syringe and add up the extra. Aparently you may get a bit of algae growth. Thats about all. No harm apart from that. I run at 1300 rather than 1500, so as to eliminate any extra algae growth. I heard this thru Pie, but not sure where he got this info. Sounds fair!
cracker
I guarantee you get extra ACRO growth with the new levels! I am using a new MG and my ACROS are hauling arse!
Brianemone
the acro's growth will increase with good Mg and algae also as i have seen in my tank when i added it ( abit overkill though in my case)
