Ok, A little bird told me that leopard fish can be a coldwater fish as well?

Ok, throw me a fricken bone here... I'm the boss... need the info

Any info y'all can give me people?

Dear god, I'm getting sucked into more breeds already.... May have something to do with the fact that I have 2 tanks sitting around me empty.... Just waiting to hear back from the land agent to see if I get to move house or not :P

By leopard fish I presume you mean Cordo.

If so they are definately a coldwater fish.

I kept three pair in a heated tank (19c) and had no success at all. I then moved them to a cold tank in the garage (where they basically got forgotten except for the odd feed) and before I knew it I had fry coming out my ears. Have now brought them back inside still in a cold tank but because I assume higher room temperature am not having the same success with breeding. Still getting fry but in smaller numbers.

No one I know, other than Mitch, calls it a 'cordo' :) which is

presumably a corruption of 'caudo'. In NZ it's generally known

as a 'Leopard fish' as you said.

Use Google to search for 'Phalloceros caudimaculatus' *not*

'Gambusia affinnis holbrooki' as some people would suggest.

They're completely different fish despite looking superficially

similar.

As a start, have a look at:

http://users.cybercity.dk/~cft2740/phal ... _retic.htm

They're neat little fish which will happily live in an unheated tank

indoors all year round. They may be a little susceptible to frosts

if kept outdoors during the winter.

I've bred heaps of them over the years but only have two females

at the moment. Planning on picking up some males at some stage

soon.

Andrew.
