cracker
My ones climb rocks in order to get higher.
chimera
brown. its sitting pretty much at the bottom of the tank, 600mm down, i've already fragged it about 6 times. just ask steve, wouldnt surprise me if his grows in his overflow i've found it can be more tempermental to water conditions than lack of or too much light. jetskisteve
the stuff higher in my tank is lighter than the stuff at the bottom. It cant grow downwards so it has to grow up
reef
Xenia like medium to high light, will survive under low light but wont do very well. Also it likes high flow,
Brianemone
i have it in two places with identical flow and the one with more light is thriving, the one in average light is surviving. i have another peice in high light lowish flow and that is also growing very well and pulsing away
Brianemone
well im going to hack of a peice and take it to work and see how it fairs under 18w pc lighting (whats the bet it takes over the tank)
wasp
It will struggle I'm afraid. I'm helping a new guy with a nano, just tried exactly that, a xenia under a 18 watt. The first one was on the bottom and slowly died. The next one went up top right under the light and is hanging on just.
Brianemone
what type (dimension) was his?
wasp
600 L, 300 W, 400 Deep
reef
I doubt you will keep xenia alive for long under 18wpc as they like medium to high light. Xenia under low light tends to get long and under high light it is shorter.
Brianemone
worth a try, my tank is very shallow so it might be better than one 400mm deep

BTW, I'll bet he enjoyed looking at your tank Chris! Where you able to help him out much?
