wasp
The water quality at Takapuna boatramp today is awesome. Should be OK Saturday also.

chimera
yes, at the end of the promenade (top of map) there's a boat ramp with a concrete ledge going down to the water on the left. walk down that and scoop your buckets from there. chimera
yeah sort of. more (and more diverse) rock pools around the more sheltered beaches north of takapuna. high tide is 8am tomorrow morning, early rise me thinks and a good 200 litre or more collection! i dont think the weather will stay this good for a while
klaymann
it's a catch 22 up here , best place for salt water is the west coast , no shipping pollution as is in the hauraki harbour ( but if your desperate takapuna would be the place) .. but best catching of glass shrimps is the east coast ..in auckland main , takapuna at low tide.. but prefer up long bay around the corner to the right ... or langs beach has bloody big buggars there, but maybe too far to travel .. they have the bearded anenomes there too . but if you want the blood red anenomes , piha is the easiest place to collect them at low time( rocks to the far right before you go around to the next bay) they are under the large rocks at low tide... this may help.... 8)
klaymann
opps should read piha far left...................
klaymann
Brianenome ... your better to shoot over the hills to Tauranga and collect water from there . .. plus you can collect sum really cool stuff from there if you know where to look ... sea horses , pipe fish,, vivid blue/red stripped shrimp , ( not glass) etc ..plus mother "F'kn" large brackish mossie larvae ( 15mm) good for long survival in marine tanks , lived there for 6 years and found lots of interesting sites to explore.. 8) ....
