BK
What are peoples favourite Dwarf Cichlid. I'm thinking about setting up a 3'x1-1/3x1-1/3 tank for these guys and what every else fits the mix. Can I keep Rams as well as Apistogrammers as they are both bottom/cave breeding. Will different Rams figth? Blues and Bolivans?
HandS
I keep blue rams with apisto's and they are fine as long as the apisto's have plenty of caves. I have also seen bolivan rams and blue rams keept togeather with no problams just a note on blue rams, try to sorce locally breed fish because IMHO imported blues usually dont last more than a month
BK
Cheers hands. Heard that about Blues my self but there seems to be no one breeding them down here. Would like to breed them myself so would get two pairs and hope from here. Had the same kind of problems with Gromi's only lasting a couple of months. Faran
My personal fave for dwarfs has now become Blue Rams. Winston (a member of KMAC, our local fish club) brought along some of his bubba blues to the monthly fish meet last Wednesday and we picked up 4 for $20ish. So far they've already made two pairs and they've got the coolest personalities I've seen on cichlids yet. Will be setting up breeding tanks for them eventually, but for now I recommend you get in touch with Winston and buy some of his juveniles while he still has some! caserole
My fav dwarf is the cockatoo Apisto, there body colour isn't much but the finage is so 8) , I've got 3 pairs set up at presant. 1 has about 24 2 week old bubs swimming around and she has layed well over 100 eggs on saturday, would like to remove the fry or eggs however I don't want to upset mum although she's really good natured - for a cichlid with eggs and fry
Faran
We're big fans of cockatoos as well. Congrats on the spawn and save some for us when they're ready for new homes!
