The three sided tank :)

Thought I would post these up, the girlfriend spent a heap of time yesterday playing aquascaping games in my 4x2x2 tank, and this was the result.

Interesting thing with the tank is it sits out in the room, so you can see it from both sides, and from the end if you're looking from the kitchen, so the challenge was to make it look good from pretty much everywhere. I'm still working on cunning ways to make the hoses etc disappear more (they're pretty blatant at the moment which I don't like) but I think she did a fantastic job with the plants themselves and it'll look really good once some of them grow some more.

I think its looking great. I was going to suggest putting the heater on the 4th side but I have no brainwaves about the spraybar :)

Congratulations to your girlfriend, she can come and play in my tank any time ..........

Cheers

what about doing something like rapping the spray bar in a moss of some sort??

or if it is strong enough run it along the middle of the tank on the floor directed upwards, then the plants would nicely cover it.

Yeah i agree maybe put the heater against the side on the wall.

The Aquascaping looks great though. :D:D

Looking good, you'll have to keep her misnomer

I have 2 suggestions (and they are both polite). Heaters are best on their side but it isn't vital if you have good water flow. Either lie the heater on its side almost touching the gravel or stand it upright in one corner, or the end that isn't seen from the other side.

As for the spray bar, if you put a strip of duct tape or similar (as wide as you can get) around the top of the tank (2 widths if necessary), then fill the tank so the water is a bit above the tape and the spray bar is also behind the tape.

I'm not sure what the tape is actually called but it goes on sale regularly at Mitre 10 and is a sort of material, rather than the plastic of duct tape. Also comes in a variety of colours. I have silver on mine but I have seen tanks lined around the top with black and blue tapes.

Cheers for the comments... I'll definitely move the heater, I think I have a cunning place I can hide it :)

Any thoughts on the filter inlet and outlet being at the same end of the tank, just in different corners? (i.e. 2' apart). I was thinking of having the spraybar vertically pointing down the tank away from the inlet, hopefully creating flow throughout the tank so i don't get dead spots.

Yeah well good luck with that - before too long it'll start busting out of there and you'll have truckloads of it on the surface. Thats if its anything like mine - i'm sure each piece of mine wears it own life jacket :P - But its about ten million times more attractive than duckweed so hey - i no complain - Sells well on TM to

I don't know why tanksman should suggest misnomer's girlfriend be hidden with Java moss!

The trouble with Java moss is it tends to wrap itself a lot more than just the stuff you want it wrapped around
