FindingNemo
I have 2 Silver Dollars that im selling on TM because they move to fast and spook the Discus . Ive set up a small isolation tank that i was going to house them in untill they are rehomed. I attempted to net them and cant get anywhere near the suckers and all i'm managing to do is stress out everything else in the tank. Whats the secret to catching the buggers. Pegasus
Turn off the light.. leave it for a while till they settle... then use a torch and a lot of care... you'll get them Bill.
FindingNemo
so catch them in the dark? Makes a lot of sence.
Pegasus
They certainly are one of the "turbo's" of the fish world.. A bit like catching the Plecos, as they always seem to disappear into that crevise that you "just can't" get to. Answer here is a bit of 40mm Marley plastic water pipe near one end of the tank. Pop the pipe in, and shortly the Pleco will investigate. (Believe me... they can't resist) Once they are inside, just block the ends off and lift the pipe out complete with Pleco... Piece "o" cake he he... and no uprooted tank or mess. Bill.
Snowman
I put my large net in where they are taking off to, leave it in for an hour or so then slowly put the small net in, they take off from the small net straight into the big net : -)>, 9 times out of 10 anyway

FindingNemo
I used the 2 net strategy and they both swam into it at the same time. Brilliant.
Ira
Answer here is a bit of 40mm Marley plastic water pipe near one end of the tank. I don't think either of my plecos will fit into a 40mm pipe. Bristlenoses would though...
