Brianemone
As some of you will have read, my sps have been effected by the flat worms dying and they have released all their colour (other than brown). Im assuming its just the zoox remaining now (hence the brown) the polyps are out on them and they are still alive and i beleive they will recover in health with out too much hassle, but im just wondering about the apperance/colour. Will the colour come back?? i think the answer will be yes, and if so how long do the pigments take to return??? anyone had experiance with this? skuzza? wasp? reef
They will come back as they have been stressed. Did you use lots of carbon??? if so this could also have caused the colour loss. Give it a few weeks. Nothing good happens overnight in a reef tank. takes time.
Brianemone
i did use carbon as per the instructions, i understand it will take a while if they do recover but just want to make sure they will.
reef
This is what i would do if dosing flatworm exit. If anyone has a small tank it would be much easier to remove the corals /fish and the rocks that the corals are on. Dose the Flatworm exist, then do a water change and return the corals/rock and then redose in a few days leaving the corals in. This way the corals/livestock will not get effected as the flat worms are real killers when they die.
wasp
As well as the toxin there may (possibly) also be some more nutrients which have come from the dead flatworms, the FW exit itself, or from other organisms that expelled stuff during treatment. But if the corals are alive and polyps out, that's all good, just continue your good husbandry and all will come back on track.
Pies
My tank remained unchanged after the flatworm exit. No change is colour in any corals for the better or for the worse. I did noticed that my skimmer went nuts for a few days afterwards though. Pie
reef
For tanks with little flat worms it is not a problem as i have dosed my tank with no carbon and not water change as the death of the flat worm had no effect as the large water volume.
