Snowman
I would take a small fish out of the community tank, only prob is you'll have to leave it in there to keep it cycled, or pick up a cheap platty or something that you can leave in there. Ira
How about a bottlefish? Fishless cycle it.

Alan
Put a sponge filter into your community tank leave for two weeks, rinse in tank water and put that sponge filter into your breeding tank with your baby swords. DON'T overfeed. If you don't want to use the fish, you can use ammonia, but do some research on how that is done. Alan
caserole
I use an aged sponged filter as Alan mentioned with 30% to 50% clean tank water and tap water i've had bubbling at the correct temp for at least 24 hours. this is for a spawning tank, were you don't feed the adult fish, when fry are ready for food in 1-2 weeks only small feedings are made at first so the filter ages as the fry need more food.
