mustcooktea
I am thinking of getting a small tank for my kitchen bench. I like bristlenose catfish and was hoping to include one but I am not sure what size tank is suitable for them. I was looking at the AR380 as an attractive small tank but its footprint is only 38x25cm. Am I right that this would be too small? caserole
I'm not familar with the AR380, but a breeding pair are very happy in a 50lt tank 600mmx300mmx300mm or similar.
Snowman
I would think the 380 may be a bit small for a pair of adults, the 380 is about 300x300 surface area isn't it?
mustcooktea
I am only looking at having one as I am not ready for breeding. Are they okay without another of their own kind? The AR380 is 38cm long - would 50cm be more suitable? (I can't take up too much space on my kitchen bench.) Otherwise I will have to choose something else . Snowman
My male standard b/nose was alone for a few years before getting a partner so that shouldn't be a problem, 50cm would be ok, you will want to have some driftwood and somewhere for it to hide like a cave, if you find the right piece of driftwood it could double as a hidey hole. You may want to have a couple of neons or cardinals or platies etc to have something that moves and give the tank some colour. Good luck with the tank. mustcooktea
Thanks Snowman. I was planning on having some colourful little fish like platies too. The bristlenose is the biggest fish I want so with the other fish it will be more how many fish rather than what size tank. MCT
