Are there any good websites with details and pictures of all the different varieties of platies? Also is there such a thing as a "tiger platy" and "plume tail platy" or crosses between the two? are they common? ..... so many questions!!!!

I have neither heard nor seen either. Could you maybe go into detail describing both? There are many sites out there with great info on Platy.

As for the tiger platies, the ones i have got look nothing like those ones on that site.

I have tried to take a picture of them but my camera is a very cheap, hopeless piece of junk.

I will see if i can borrow a camera and get a better picture in the weekend.

The 3 fish you see in the pic i bought from redwood aquatics as "tiger platies". i got 2 females and a male. The male (on the right) has a tail just like the ones pictured one the site handS posted. The females have about 4-5 dark apricot orange bands vertically along their body.

I only ask cause i want to find out more about my fish and haven't had any luck finding out anything so far.

The problem with the site that HandS has posted, is that alot of those platys are named incorrrectly.

Very interesting, i have never seen verticaly stripped Platy.

Wow it can take so long to get a good picture of a little fish that won't stay still!! It was very hard to get one of the male that showed his tail cause it is transparent and angles, light reflection blah blah etc.
