raeh1
When I set up my tank I was told to use carbon. I did but was recently told that it can damage anemones. What are your guys experiences.

Control
I'm not a beleaver in carbon, however I would love to see why and how it can damage an anemone. Aaron
Pies
Carbon will polish the water, making it cleaner looking and removing any yellowing, especially caused by Calurpa. It will also remove many of the poisons that cause corals to retard other corals growth. Fay has problems with her Anemones bleeching which she thinks 'may' be a result of too much carbon. There are stories about people using too much carbon who have had SPS bleech. Use a little at a time, change it often. Most people i've met run carbon and reccomend its use. Fay
Yea it was me, I told you that I used to much in high flow, used correctly you will have no problems e.g. small amounts in low flow
SteveA
Used to use it but haven't done so in over 5 years. Can't say I have noticed much difference but since, from time to time, I do have the odd bit of caulerpa, perhaps I have not being paying attention. The corals seem quite happy without it. petplanet
Carbon dust can irritate corals big time if it gets lose in the tank. If not wet prior to going in the water it can suck up alot of oxygen. If your water is real yellow the cabon would remove it (quickly if you used alot) which could light shock the corals. Like replacing old bulbs with new.
