Silverdollarboy2
Hi all, its been a while. I have a 40 litre tank that I would like to stock with something different from the usual Livebearers and Tetras. I was thinking along the lines of a single Paradise fish or Hatchetfish (tank too small?) Any other suggestions?
Caryl
killifish or puffers? I think 40L too small for the paradisefish. Not sure about hatchetfish. What are the tank dimensions?
Silverdollarboy2
29 x 47 x 40cm Would love to get a puffer if i could find one, do they eat dry food/ repashy or mainly live?
Caryl
I believe most puffers eat live foods and love wee snails. Not sure if that is so with all of them. Which of those measurements is the length and which is the height? I am thinking if the tank is low and long then hatchets would look nice but if it was more taller than long the hatchets would all be at the surface and there would be nothing at the lower levels. Silverdollarboy2
47 long, 40 height. Do you think that is big enough for any dwarf cichlids like Apistos or Rams?
Caryl
I have no experience with apistos or rams but a quick search tells me apistos need at least 75L and rams need 38L minimum. Not sure of their availability (been years since I have been in a fish shop) but have you thought of going brackish with Bumblebee gobies, Brachygobius xanthozona? Not for beginner fishkeepers. Silverdollarboy2
Not sure if i could find the gobies locally. Rams only need 38l? might go for a pair of them
Caryl
You had better do a thorough search first and check if that was for a single fish or a pair Silverdollarboy2
