Mushroom again? I know these are mushrooms This one loves the sunlight I'm guessing this is a finger coral that my Bi color is waiting to eat? And I know what sort of fish this is Thanks guys and girls
Brianemone
the first pic is calustrea (trumpet coral) then the rest are mushrooms other than the grumpy leather thats avoiding being eaten nice fish too so are you starting the move to a full blown reef? dhindry
This is where it will stay at the moment. Am I correct in assuming that the leather corals prefer brighter light? The other afternoon when in direct sunlight for about two hours all the little bits came out and it looked beautiful. In the Display tank I have .... The above corals Two Ocellaris Clowns (Pair) One Hippo Tang One Bi Color Angel One Bluefin Damsel In my 200 litre tank there is .... (The Naughty Fish Tank) One Domino Damsel One Cinemon Clown Fish One Yellow Damsel Approx 60Kg of live rock distributed over both tanks and sump And a 100 Litre Sump with skimmer/heaters etc I don't belive in adding too much to a tank at once, so this is the way it will stay. The only other item I may look for soon is a small anenome. Only running Fluro lighting at present too.
Control
Looking great. Your next investment is a metal halide not an anemone. One has the need for the other. You need to seriously think about what you want your tank to keep in the long term before you decide on the strength of the metal halide. Am I correct in assuming that the leather corals prefer brighter light? They live very well with a good level of appropriate fluorescent lighting. It sounds like you might not have that, what are you using. Aaron.
dhindry
Currently have two fluro tubes... 1 - 38W Arcadia Marine White lamp 9500k 1 - 38W Arcadia Marine blue Actinic Both lamps have reflectors too {not that it makes much difference} Tank depth is approx 600mm Daniel
Fay
I have found my leather like yours needs a lot of flow to be happy
reef
1 - 38W Arcadia Marine White lamp 9500k 1 - 38W Arcadia Marine blue Actinic You got a light problem. should get another two tubes, or get t5s. Corals will need more light to grow.
dhindry
You mean I have to spend more money? I will look at getting another two bulbs. I won't be able to go to t5's as the light fitting's are part of the tank lid. I don't think you can use t5's with a normal fluro ballast???? Brianemone
if you can put in more flouros then you can put in t5s (space wise i mean) i beleive they use different balasts
dhindry
Can an electrical wholesaler get the below tubes, or something like them? I'm sure there is some out there that are cheaper than these. 1 - 38W Arcadia Marine White lamp 9500k 1 - 38W Arcadia Marine blue Actinic Daniel
Brianemone
they dont usually carry high kelvin rating bulbs
Pies
You won't get Arcadia from any electrical supplier, as they are branded for the pet industry. All thats important is the kelvin and wattage. Not sure about the 10,000k bulbs but 6500k are easy to find. As for 'Marine Blue Actinic' just ask for "Phillips 03 actinic - blue" and they will find em for you, fairly common (Wilsons carpark on Cortney Place is lit with 03 Blue tubes from OSRAM.
