Morpheous
Hi I have just purchased a new 350 L tank and was wondering what size external cannister filter to go for ? I was looking at either a Jebo 810 - 900L/h for $ 89.95 or a Jebo 815 1000L/h for $99.95 Also I will be converting my tank to tropical fish in the near future what wattage heater should I be running ? Snowman
I personally use Eheim filters but there is quite a price difference, a mate of mine with a few tanks uses Jebo's and has had no problems and they are quite a bit cheaper. If you can afford the bigger one it would be better for your tank, no such thing as to much filtration. As far as the heaters go i would probably use at least 2 x 200 watt, personally i would use a 300 watt heater at each end, there's usually very little if any price difference between 200 and 300 watt and the 300's would not have to be on as long to heat the water. In my opinion bigger is always better, especially when there is very little cost difference.
Caryl
I would go for the bigger 819. Remember their flow rates are for just water and don't take into account the muck that builds up. I have the Jebo 819 on my 280 litre and have just ordered another for my 250L to replace a Fluval 404. They are excellent prices for those filters. Who has them for that? The trade price I was given was dearer than that.
Lucid
I have the 819 running on my 180litre tan, and yes it sounds overkill but I bought larger so I had the ability to upgrade the tank size and still be able to use the same filter. I purchased mine for a little bit more than you have stated but welington seems to more expensive for some reason. Also I had a mate who was running the 815?? on a 3foot turtle tank with no problems, so I reackon if it handles the turtles it will be fine on fish tanks. Morpheous
Thanks Guys, I will have to write all this down somewhere so I don't forget. As I am presently building a cabinet for my new tank and buying filters , heaters etc as I can afford them.
Caryl
We set up the Jebo but discovered a problem - we forgot to check the cupboard height and found the Jebo too tall for the cabinet!! It is currently sitting on the floor until Grant cuts a hole in the bottom of the cupboard  . They are a lot taller than the Fluvals. Morpheous
I have just put the larger 819 on layby last week, so my tank is getting closer to being completed. oh and my tank is 230L not 350 L like I previously said so the new 819 running at 1200L/h should filter my tank quite nicely. Thanks for the advice.
