Chainsaw
Hi, I have renovated an old pond in our garden. It is a concrete bowl with a 2m diameter about 500mm deep in the centre. I put ten small goldfish in it in autumn and now have seven 12cm fish and a lot of algae. Does anybody know of a good source of plants to put in, the garden centre charges $15 for a small pot and I need to get quite a bit of nitrogen out. Caryl
I do not know what you have locally but I just gather oxygen weed from my local river. That many fish in a container of that size will be producing a lot of waste (fertiliser) which the algae will love. Is it shaded at all? Too much sunlight will also add to the problem. Being only 500mm, it will heat up well in summer so you will need to check for oxygen deprivation as the fish grow.

The pond is mostly shaded under trees so doesn't heat up much.
