terry17
Hi all I would like to join a few pieces of driftwood together. They are quite small pieces so I can really use stainless steel screws. I knew some people use Superglue or Aron alpha AA glue( even used to attached plants to wood or stone), I think it should work for me. However I am not sure if it is really safe for use it fish tank? Others suggested silicon sealant . Has anyone come across this before? Thanks Terry
Adrienne
I used a stainless steel screw to screw my two pieces of hardwood together. It was a challenge to get the screw into the wood due to the hardness I use superglue gel with cyanocrylate in my marine tank to glue corals on. joff_nz
I used a dowel of sorts to join two piece together once. It was two flat surfaces so I drilled a hole into each, jammed a smooth stick into one hole and pushed the other piece down onto it. It held well. You could also drill small hole right through each and tie them together with nylon maybe?
Devrens
Sorry for semi-necroing this thread, but... I just wanted to share my success with gorilla glue. It works really well with driftwood provided you're able to tie or clamp the pieces together. It cures in three hours, but I'd give it at least a day or two before adding it to your aquarium. - Dev
aussiegreenthumb
i would probaly go with the dowl method as mentioned that way you can remove it and dismantle/assemble it in the tank its also more organic. ive seen reef scapes done this way with holesaws and small pvc pipe
