junglejim
Hi all, any advice? Our tank just finished cycling and nitrites are down to zero. Problem is I'm not ready for various reasons to put fish into the tank. My question is, if I turn off the pump and leave the tank stagnant will all the hard work and time spent cycling be all for nothing and lost? Thanks
si_sphinx
Yes you need to keep it running or it will die and start to smell bad
alanmin4304
If you turn off the filter or stop feeding it the bacteria will die off and you will have to start again later.
reef
You could leave a power head in the tank and turn off everything else. I assume you have rock in the tank.add a little fish food to the tank weekly to help bacteria.
junglejim
Thanks guys, maybe I'll chuck a dead shrimp in there to keep things going for a while.
