Hi Guys - Hello to everyone

My interests are tortoise's and reptiles, while growing up my brother and I kept skinks that we would catch while tramping. The first couple we brought home by accident in our packs and the next time we found one in the Wheetbix box having a scoff while we were staying in a hut up the Ruahine range. We kept them in a really large round plastic fish bowl to start with, as we learnt more about skinks we progressed to what we called a glass atrinm that was decked out with living plants. They must have been pretty happy because in time they breed. That was all many years ago and now I'm older have decided to get a couple of Hermann's to satisfy an interest in tortoise that I have always had.

While another family member has much older adult Hermann's we have never breed or had young ones before. I hope that there will be a few collectors on this forum that may be able to help answer any questions that I might have or be able to offer any help as it arises if necessary.

At this stage I have just the Hermann's but would like to get a couple Greek Spurs also, maybe in the Spring.

Welcome to the forum Wendy. Wow pretty cool that you have a pair of tortoises! How old are they?

Thanks for the welcome reptilez - Caryl

My young one's are around fifteen months old, not sure if they are girls or boys yet.

They have just dug in for the winter, likewise with my uncles, though his are old hands at hibernating at fifteen years old.
