morfin
Just been reading online that the bars on discus are stress bars and peppering on my pigeons is also due to stress. So I'm wondering if that is true, I kind of though the roses just got them as they had different moods, and they hardly ever are just the red colour, they usually have some stripes or at least one through their head. The also seem to be fairly happy, so I just can't understand why they would be so stressed all the time, if this were true. Any ideas, I like the bars, but didn't realise they were a bad thing........
Adrienne
Okay Rose Red always have bars - thats how I ID them Peppering - any discus with pigeon in it will pepper unless it has been bred out of it through generations of breeding. These discus pepper more if they have 1. dark background on the tank 2. dark substrate . Yes they can pepper a bit more if stressed. My discus are not stressed yet they are peppering up. I have a black painted back to my tank and black fluorite My Rose Red always has bars on it but yes, some do bar when they are stressed. With these guys its the norm. Stop worrying enjoy your fish
