malawi_man
Hi Guys, Just wondering what plants people have used successfully with african cichlids. The issues I've had in the past were the fish eating them, and the fish digging up the sand around them. Let me know what you do, or what you've seen others do. Pics would be good. cheers
camtang
I had crypt Affins in with my Tangs without an issue, and have had java fern with no worries with my mixed African tank. This weekend I am going to add some java ferns, crypts and moss to my Tang tank fingers crossed I have no issue. My impression is that Malawis are worse than Tangs on plants, and that some species are worse than others. Seemingly the Mbuna species. Also I found adding plants when the fish are younger is more helpful than when they are older

Its growing in the tanks :bggrn: rather than :ske: The java fern i had, kept getting uprooted in all the tanks so haven't tried it again.
