mrrick
Had my tank running for 4 months, plenty of baby platies (though no new ones lately) but have had NO baby guppies. Would they be eaten ? Should I separate the guppies from the platies
Caryl
They would be eaten. You can separate the guppies and platies if you like but female guppies will eat their own fry as well as every body else's. If you want fry, you need a tank heavily planted with fine leaved plants (ambulia, cabomba and Java moss are great) or floating plants with bushy root systems (water wisteria, water sprite) I am assuming you do have some female guppies in there? Godly3vil
You could also separate the heavily pregnant females into a breeding box and remove her after she has birthed the fry, this is what I use to do and before long had way too many livebearer fry and couldn't even give them away lol.
